005Farewell Windows, Hello Ubuntu
posted by Daniel on April 1st, 2008
I have finally ridden Windows,
Out of my personal computer,
My source of countless sorrows,
Thou hath been year after year.
Thy absence will not be missed,
Not a drop, none a bit,
Never will I welcome thou again,
Lest my own throat I shall slit,
Because Windows always did maketh me pissed.
Learn the signs, ye all must know,
To know the right time for ye to do,
The time when Windows ye must throw,
And embrace the Linux distro Ubuntu.
Signs that tells you to dump Windows and switch to Ubuntu Linux:
Sign #5 - You’re tired of reformatting your PC… every 6 months
It is the cardinal rule for Windows owner,
To re-format your PC, to prevent it from going slower,
‘Tis necessary labour, though a stupid endeavor,
Yet we do it anyways, lest our arteries we sever.
Sign #4 - You’re tired of re-installing Windows… every 6 months
The very reason to re-format your PC,
Is to re-install the cursed Windows,
These two things could drive ye silly,
And make ye drag thy neck to the gallows.
Sign #3 - You’re tired of buying anti-virus / anti-spyware / anti-adware / anti-malware, etc…
‘Tis not enough to waste money on Windows,
Ye must also waste money to fix it,
Many fixing there shall be, my hapless fellows,
And ye must spend money yearly for it.
Sign #2 - You had enough of system crashes that was not caused by you
An undeniable fact, this human error,
We are not perfect; blunder is in our nature,
Hence we don’t need a software to outdo our failure,
Lest we degenerate to a lesser creature.
Sign #1 - You couldn’t switch to Vista (after all that you’ve heard about it)
Every successor must always be better,
Than any or all of its predecessor,
Thus, if the predecessor is better,
Then the successor is an evolutionary failure.
Ubuntu Linux, I welcome thee,
To fill the space in my new hard drive,
And to my fellow Borneons, I bid all ye,
To go, today, for a Linux testdrive.

A deep ponder it requireth so,
But Windows hath drove me crazy,
So into the trashbin off it go.

Forethought there was before my conversion,
Alternatives you’ll find many a dozen,
Searchy with Google, and ye shall know.

April 3rd, 2008 at 4:36 amWhat a novel idea it is I see,
A post that uses poetry,
A good job done,
You made it fun,
Now you’ve made me rhyme, too, see?
Normally IT things I wouldn’t read,
But for the rhymes I wouldn’t have dallied,
Again I say,
What a novel way,
To make people pay attention, indeed!
*sigh* That was fun. I haven’t rhymed in years.

April 13th, 2008 at 8:20 amOh what a happy joyous day
When I threw Windows XP away
It was my leap from darkness, from night to day
As I booted up Ubuntu, I knew I no longer had to pay.
No more defragging, no more virus scan
No more spyware or setting an ip ban
I logged into Ubuntu , it started up and ran
Detected all my hardware, even my integrated lan
Software is plenty and so much is free
I think of all the money I dumped into XP
Linux has it’s own apps that are good, you will see
To help your leap to freedom, click this link from me
Browse the catagories then look in the repository
For the latest version to add to your inventory
Click the tab named Alternatives, it’s not gory
Thats all for now, this is the end of my story.
Good luck to you and enjoy your new found freedom.
A word of wisdom. Think outside the box. You are no longer confined inside Microsoft’s cage.
4 ways to install software, updates your OS and installed software, let’s me think normally again.

Those are priceless enlightenment,
Freedom of speech; free from doubt
That is what Linux all about.
You’re cool, TaZMan.
