This thought came in a whirl,
After munching a packet of Oreo…
How much does the world
know of Borneo?

Then like a song of the Highland,
An epiphany sort of happened…
Why not educate them
about the Borneo Island?

Much there is to know of Borneo,
The island surrounded by five a Sea,
Much there is to know of Borneo,
Here’s a few, do read, do see:

#5 - The third largest island in the world

Smaller than New Guinea, bigger than Sumatra,
It is the biggest island in South East Asia,
It can fit the whole West Malaysia,
While still have room for the island Jawa.

#4 - The third highest island in the world

Mount Kinabalu is this island’s peak,
A marvelous sculptur of Time and Nature,
Should Humpty Dumpty fell from its peak,
None could put him back together.

#3 - Sarawak’s Deer Cave, probably the largest cave passage in the world

Its name alone can be deceiving,
To the true sheerness of its opening,
It can fit a twelve story building,
Less than halfway to the entry’s ceiling.

#2 - Home to the biggest single flower in the world, the Rafflesia arnoldii

It is beautiful as well as carnivarous,
Not to mention it’s the world’s largest,
But fear not, it will not harm us,
Insects are the only thing it digest.

#1 - Home to the Pongo pygmaeus, the Bornean Orangutan

Big and hairy, but not that scary,
These “forest men” can be quite friendly,
They can also be brilliantly tricky,
Especially if you seem to have a lot of money.

So there you have it,
A sneak peak per se,
There is so much more to learn and see,
So start your searchy,
Don’t be lazy,
Get to know more of Borneo, matey!
