026I Am Free
posted by Daniel on April 29th, 2008
I found an image on the net,
Which posed a question in my head,
Though it bore a simple writing,
Its cryptic words had me thinking,
Many times it had me mislead,
Into seeing a different meaning.
In the world we live in today,
Our lives are unchained and unbound,
Though the law our leaders hold sway,
Not a rope tie us to the ground,
Freedom’s still ours in everyway;
No tyranny to kneel us down.
But if freedom is truly ours,
Which we paint in glorious colours,
Why is it then our life is still
Confined within society’s bars?
Do we really lack our own free will,
To break away from the herdman’s drill?
But to think as such is so limiting,
For the word “freedom” has lots of meaning,
It was then that I found a juncture,
To what the artist might wish to conjure -
Life at times might seem imprisoning,
But a free mind is hard to censor.
Yet…
There is this nagging feeling,
I just couldn’t put aside,
It’s as if something is missing,
Like some sort of hidden meaning,
Of this image’s arcane side,
Which the artist’s bent on veiling.
Even after this post uploaded, it’s true meaning still had me hunting…
