030The Value of A Face
posted by Daniel on May 2nd, 2008
How odd of us to place a value,
Upon a figure framed by a note,
To not possess it simply won’t do -
We needed it just like a lifeboat.
As much as I disdain this worship,
Refrain I could not from not wanting,
To own these papers prone to courtship,
By those who prey on greedy yearning.
And yet our lives revolve around it,
This system made by capitalist,
It fuels our city’s silver heartbeat,
With all the merchants which it consist.
With my account today replenished,
It filled the nooks of my heart with glee,
But once all those papers diminished,
Only the month’s end would uplift me.
What a vicious circle.
